and so it begins

so, since i published this thing yesterday, i guess technically yesterday was my first day to begin, but i'm counting today as the beginning since the post didn't happen until the end of the day. that means i have until friday, october 12, 2012 to achieve all of these goals. doable? i think so. i don't think i made any extremely unrealistic goals, except for perhaps a few of the fitness ones and learning esperanto. although, to be fair, it's not like i said i had to run the whole marathon, or be fluent in esperanto. i'm excited to being accomplishing things, and i've already gotten a head start on some things (like #76: blog about completing this list):

#19: read at least 20 new books. i am currently reading the stuff of thought by steven pinker and the amazing adventures of kavalier and clay by michael chabon. i have a tendency to buy more books than i can read, which jj said he likes about me. i like it too, being surrounded by my books, and it means i'll always have something good to read. recently, i picked up a book by sarah vowell and i also have a book on maria montessori i'd like to read soon. i think that this goal is one i will accomplish fairly soon, and i can probably surpass it without much trouble. i guess we'll see what happens.

#86: make a journal for keeping a list of things that make me smile. one entry per day for all 1001 days. i'm going to buy a journal after school today just for this. today's entry will be: waking up to emails from jj. jota definitely makes me smile.

#8: invest in real luggage. i suppose since jane got me a new suitcase for christmas, i should strike this one from the list, but since it was on my original list before the luggage was purchased, i feel like it still counts. that suitcase really helped when i was in china, minus it is not a suitcase that expands. for china, that wasn't so great, but for the future, it'll keep me from overpacking or buying too much while on vacation.

#31: visit three new cities in texas (ideas: shiner, marfa, kermit, winnie, houston). plans are being made to visit the observatory with jj in february. i don't really know what city that would be, but it's definitely somewhere new.

#23: visit four new places in the united states. i'm buying my ticket for vegas tonight, and it seems a trip to dc is in my near future. two down, two to go. it'd be nice if i could surpass this goal, too.



that's all for now. time to take the kids to the computer lab. there, i'll be grading papers, so that helps with #38. :D
