guns!

so, this one (#82: shoot a gun) wasn't something i really felt strongly about, but i did think that since i'd never shot a gun, let alone held one, this would be an interesting one to add to the list. my friend will is a marine and has been to iraq three times, and upon his most recent return to austin, he bought a pistol and a shotgun. his friend trey has some property way out in dripping springs (we camped there before will left for his third deployment), so me, jessica, imogen, brian, will and his girlfriend katherine all came out for some late afternoon shooting. i shot the pistol six times and hit nothing; on jessica's first round she shot the hell out of the beer sitting on the fence post and then she big fat did it again the second time. i only shot the shotgun once, and i liked (felt more comfortable with, really) it more than the pistol. the pistol felt too violent, even though the shotgun took no prisoners with the beer can. i felt very texan being out in the woods, shooting guns, building a fire, and drinking shiner. (note: we didn't begin drinking beer until after all the ammo had been used. i was not into the idea of drinking while loaded guns were around!) apparently chuck had been a bit foolish the weekend before when they were out there, so will was sure to teach us about the safety measures (i.e., don't point a gun, loaded or unloaded, at someone, chuck). anyway, it was a fun little sunday afternoon, complete with silly dancing in the car on the way there to some chris brown. i love my friends.

also: cheetos sound weird when you eat them and you're wearing ear plugs.
